Once again, I have the pleasure of interviewing Bill Eddy, LCSW, Esq, about his book, What’s Your Proposal? Shifting high-conflict people from blaming to problem solving in 30 seconds.

Bill Eddy is internationally renowned as one of Americas best-known High Conflict Specialists. He has a global reputation as a leading thinker having designed new ways to approach high conflict situations. He challenges our conventional thinking and automatic reactions to high-conflict behaviour and guides you to incredibly effective and simple methods to approach High-Conflict People.

Excerpt from chapter 2 of Bill Eddy’s book titled: So What’s Your Proposal? Shifting High-Conflict People from Blaming to Problem Solving in  30 seconds. (

When you are dealing with high-conlfict people, they are often over-reacting and stuck in their right brain defensiveness. If you tell them they are over-reacting or tell them to “calm down”, they will get angrier with you. This is because they are interpreting your tone of voice and facial expressions as threatening. Rather then shifting them, you are reinforcing their upset emotions by responding with your own defensive reacting.

Tess talks the new future of 1st Call

What’s happening | 0 comments | by TB

Right now, 1st Call (yes me, aka Tess) is gearing up to release something I have dreamt about and worked towards since November 2014.

On the 1st of February I am launching the first of two on-line products – the Cohesive Conversations 10-day challenge. I am excited about this course, because it is powerful – very, very powerful. The 10-day communications challenge provides you with simple tools and techniques to handle everyday situations that arise when we communicate with others at work.

Cohesive conversations are the ones where we exchange views, ideas and business needs constructively – free from judgment, positions and any other baggage. It sounds idealistic doesn’t it? It can happen.

You can create your own cohesive conversations.

And here’s how. Through learning practical skills to handle everyday situations. That is how I have designed my courses. Cohesive conversations techniques explained in simple practical steps.

I have tried very hard to keep the examples real. Each module is bite sized, so that you can fit them into your busy day. Most modules can be completed in 15 minutes or less. we will finish the course with a live Q&A session. The course will run monthly and will be available on-demand to fit into your hectic workload.

The course provides:

~ 7 strategies to handle everyday situations, situations like:

   ~ keeping others focused

   ~ managing conversations with nay-sayers

~ managing conversations with those that live in the past

~ 3 reasons why you can not reach cohesive conversations and tips to get you there.

To learn more about the course click here.

For the first run through, I have invited a number of clients to do the course. I am looking for 5 more people to do the course for free. If you would like to join them and do my Cohesive Conversations 10-day challenge please shoot me an email and tell me why you would like to do my course. It is seriously 10 days to more confidence. You can email me on

That is not the only news I have for you.

Looking forward, my attention will be focused on four areas in 2016:

~ looking after you, my clients

~ delivering my new on-line offerings

~ delivering more interesting interviews, starting with Bill Eddy, 24 February 2016

What’s your proposal? Shifting from blaming to problem solving in 30 seconds.

~ writing, my blog and my book.

I will be launching my second on-line course in March and I will tell you more about that soon. In the mean time, I want to say thank you to all my clients. It has been an amazing journey so far and I am incredibly excited (and a little bit nervous) about 2016. I feel so lucky to have this opportunity to share my learnings and experience.

Here’s to Cohesive Conversations.

Cheers Tess
